A microscopic double-walled cup wrapped round each glomerulus, about a million per kidney.
What it does
Catches the fluid filtered from the blood and passes it into the tubule.
Keeping it well
Damage to the filter lets protein leak into urine; frothy urine or swollen ankles should prompt a urine test.
