Pulmonary valve
Valva trunci pulmonalis · Plicnicová chlopeň
Veins
Looks like
A valve with three half-moon cusps where the right ventricle empties into the artery to the lungs.
What it does
Stops blood falling back into the right ventricle after each beat.
Keeping it well
Its problems are mostly present from birth — a narrowed valve — and are often found as a murmur in childhood. Most are widened by a balloon through a vein rather than by open surgery.
