Skin & appendages
Looks like
The outer sheet of skin, thinner than paper, replaced completely about every month.
What it does
The barrier itself: keeps water in, germs and sunlight out, and makes the pigment that shades you.
Keeping it well
Sunburn is the clearest melanoma risk. Sunscreen is proven against squamous-cell cancer and weaker against melanoma. A spot that changes or will not heal needs looking at.
