Langerhans cells
Cellulae Langerhans · Langerhansovy buňky
Lymphatic & immune
Looks like
Branching immune cells spread through the epidermis, like a net lying among the keratinocytes.
What it does
Catch germs and foreign substances in the skin and carry them to the lymph nodes to alert the immune system.
Keeping it well
They drive contact allergies such as a nickel rash. Ultraviolet light suppresses them.
